The venue was Spartans Community Football Academy, the date was Sunday 29th September, and the occasion was a Charity Football Match between Meadowbank Athletic AFC and Edinburgh East AFC in aid of Simpsons Special Care Babies.
Meadowbank Athletic have been raising funds for SSCB in a variety of ways, culminating in the football match. Meadowbank striker, Stewart Adams, scored two of their three goals, bringing the final score to Meadowbank 3, Edinburgh East 2.
Stewart's two year old son Rory spent several weeks in the Neonatal Unit after his birth in 2017, and Rory was on the touchline with his Mum and Grandad (‘Pops’) to cheer his Daddy on.
The match was attended by friends and family of team members, raising £550 from ticket sales on the day. Once added to the sum raised through online donations, they expect the total raised to be in the region of £2,000.
