SSCB car seat blankets in 2 sizes, knitted in garter and Andalusian stitches.

Car Seat Blanket
Babies under the age of 12 months travel in rear facing car seats. These little cosy blankets will be offered to babies on discharge from The Simpson Neonatal Unit.
Requirements
• Please use new yarn.
• While we appreciate that knitters have different abilities and as these are gifts for babies and families who have gone through so much, we would appreciate a high quality of knitting.

Making your baby blanket
To make you will need:
Materials
• Double knitting yarn in pastel shades - preferably man made
• 4mm needles

What to do:
Small size
Cast on 79 sts
Work 6 rows in garter stitch. For the best edge result, always slip the 1st stitch of each row.

Repeated Andalusian pattern over 4 rows
1st row. Slip 1 st, K
2nd row. Slip 1 st, K 4, purl to last 5 sts, K 5
3rd row. Slip1 st, K
4th row. Slip 1 st, K 4, *p1, k1 Repeat from *, to last 5 sts, K 5
Repeat these 4 rows until work measures 17” (44cm)
Knit 6 rows in garter stitch and cast off.
Medium size
Cast on 91 sts and work as small size until blanket measures 22” (56cm)
