SSCB Tree of Light

Christmas is often a time for joy and for families to come together but for anyone who has lost a loved one it can be a time for reflection resulting in a mix of emotions. This is particularly true for families and their friends who have experienced the loss of a baby and/or have experienced life in the neonatal unit.

This Christmas Simpsons Special Care Babies (SSCB), the official charity supporting the neonatal unit at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, has come together with the fantastic team at The Scott Hotel to create a Tree of Light to remember those precious babies who brought so much joy but spent so little time with us, whether snuggled in the womb or in the days, weeks or years after their birth. We want to shine a light on them and provide a space where you can remember them this Christmas.

Join us for the switching on of the lights and some Christmas music whilst siblings are kept busy with Christmas arts & crafts.

The Scott Hotel

The Scott Hotel, nestled within The University of Edinburgh’s Pollock Estate, is proud to sponsor Simpsons Special Care Babies (SSCB) Tree of Light. Our partnership with SSCB reflects the University of Edinburgh Hospitality Collection’s commitment to supporting the local community.

The University of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (ERI) share a long and distinguished history. The University’s continued use of the ERI for teaching and research, as well as the transformation of the Old Royal Infirmary building into the Edinburgh Futures Institute, underscores the enduring connection between these two institutions.

The Scott Hotel offers an escape from the busy city streets, a moment of tranquillity in a serene and inviting space to remember a loved one by the Tree of Light.

We are delighted to support Simpsons Special Care Babies and the invaluable work they do.
